About Black Opal Services
An established ACT construction and demolition company, built on more than 40 years of industry experience.
Our story
Black Opal Services Pty Ltd was founded in 2002 by Director Marjan Zagar, who has been working in Canberra's building and construction industry since 1985. Over that time the company has built a reputation for versatility, practical problem-solving and delivering projects efficiently and safely.
We specialise in commercial demolition, building alterations and associated construction works. As licensed builders we can take a project from strip-out through to the finished building work, and we have the resources to deliver projects valued up to $2 million, with capacity for around $200,000 of work each month.
We understand the pressures of commercial construction: safety, programme, cost and quality. We work closely with builders, project managers and subcontractors, keep communication clear and solve problems on site.
Start right, finish right.
Every job starts with a proper plan, the right paperwork and a clear scope, and finishes with a clean site and a proper handover.
Play the long game.
We would rather keep a client for twenty years than win one job. Honest pricing, straight answers and doing what we said we would.
Improvise, adapt, overcome.
Sites change. Latent conditions, programme shifts and scope gaps are part of the job, and we find a way to get it done safely.
